The top employers have one major thing in common: their employees are happy. Each year Forbes compiles these great employers into a list, the “100 Best Companies to Work For." This means that employees are loud and proud about their jobs. Employee surveys are conducted each year through the Great Place to Work Institute for use in Forbes’ yearly publication.
Below are the top 5 companies from the list.
Google. It’s not a surprise that Google ranked in at number one again. They offer an awesome office, comfortable work areas and great benefits. All employees are stockholders, so they earn a boon from Google’s $1,000 stock prices. Plus, they are encouraged to be philanthropic. For every five hours that employees volunteer, Google donates $50 to charity.
SAS. The software giant keeps employees happy with great working conditions and an onsite health center. They treat employees and their families there. The center offers 53 medical and support staff for services from general medical, diet and psychology, to physical therapy.
The Boston Consulting Group. The consulting firm offers benefits found nowhere else. They offer full tuition for employees to attend grad school, and offer up to $100,000 for a down payment on a home once they finish. They have been in business for over 50 years, with employees still following the founding visions of integrity and respect for the individual.
Edward Jones. Turnover at this financial service firm is one of the lowest in the industry -- at 8%. At least a third of the advisers there are over 50 and have been with the company for a long time. The structure of the company is set up to nurture entrepreneurship and encourage sharing organization-wide.
Quicken Loans. The lender is intent on building the state of Michigan back up. They host job fairs in downtown Detroit for their company offices yearly, bringing out large amounts of applicants. They have partnered with area businesses to offer incentives to move to the area, offering up to $20,000 in forgivable home loans.
