The Fourth 'C' of Employee Engagement

Posted by Insightlink on 10/20/14

Steps to Convey Positive Feedback to your Employees

The 4th C of Employee Engagement is Convey. Employees need to receive constructive and positive feedback on a regular basis if they are to succeed personally and feel passionate and committed to their organizations. It is a manager’s job to convey specific, objective feedback as frequently as possible to help their employees improve their performance and keep morale within their team high.

Convey positive feedback in 5 easy steps:

Increase Reviews:
Some experts encourage managers to hold as many as four reviews a year, saying that quarterly reviews create an opportunity for regular dialogue and feedback.

Explore Multiple Sources:
Managers should seek feedback from a multiple sources to help them get a more accurate, real-time view of their employee’s performance.

Keep it Personal:
Encourage managers and employees to keep personal notes and take the time to discuss them periodically.

Be Precise:
Define clear and measurable goals to let employees know what is expected of them, how their success will be measured and when they must complete the work.

Keep Talking:
Maintaining ongoing dialogue helps managers convey feedback, coaching and development to their employees. If this dialogue is fluid and continuous, then everyone’s contributions will move the organization forward in the right direction.

Positive and constructive feedback is an essential cornerstone of a successful organization because it impacts the level of self, teamwork and results. Without feedback, who can know what they are working towards and worse, what they are working for.
