Show Me The Money-The ROI of Employee Engagement
Sometimes getting your boss or senior management team to buy into an employee survey can be tough. We hear from HR Managers all the time that that is often their biggest obstacle in getting approval to conduct an employee survey.
They cost money and not everyone sees the value in asking employees what they think.
Having a sense of what is happening might only be the tip of the iceberg. You might not realize that the 'sense' you have is being created by your squeaky wheels because they are the ones that make the noise and complain the loudest. You are in denial if they are the only people you listen to though.
Bad morale often flies below the radar because often we find employees are afraid to say what they really think because they are afraid of losing their jobs or being punished somehow, but that doesn’t stop them from treating your customers badly, or messing with the quality of your products. If you want to know what your employees are really thinking you can’t assume anything.
Why does this matter? It matters because disengaged employees cost money and lots of it. A recent Glassdoor article revealed that disengaged employees are estimated to cost the U.S. between $450 billion to $550 billion a year,
If that's not enough proof that you need to conduct an employee survey then maybe it’s time to make the numbers more personal and make them about your organization.
We thought, wouldn’t it be awesome for HR managers to be able to show their senior management what disengagement is costing them? That is why we developed an Employee Engagement ROI calculator. Now you can plug in your own organizations financial details to get your answer. Check it out here.
Do it and see where you net out and then ask yourself and your team if it isn’t time to do a survey. Don’t lose what your company has worked so hard to achieve by ignoring your employees. Start with getting feedback and find out what you employees are saying about you so that you can begin to move in the right direction. If all you get back is good news then you know exaclty what you are doing right!
