Take Action and Make Changes

Posted by Insightlink on 10/03/13

Using Your Employee Survey Effectively

After hearing, over and over again through the grapevine, that your workers were not happy, you decided to take action. Instead of calling a meeting and insisting they reveal their grievances, right then and there, you decided to take a gentler, less invasive approach. You decide to have them complete an employee satisfaction survey. You've made a good choice.

The surveys are in and you have your results staring you in the face. Now, what do you do with those findings? Do you file them away OR do you start making changes within your organization?

The answer should be easy – you should take action. However, we know that it is not always easy to take immediate action and make substantial changes in the operation of an organization. Some changes require time and effort.

Instead of filing your survey reports away with the hope of addressing the results later, start using the information as soon as you get your findings, even if you can only make small changes now – at the very least, you are taking action on the findings. Then, let your employees know that changes are in the works. Let them know that you heard their voices and what steps you are taking ot improve their work environment. Be sure to let them know what areas cannot be changed right away. Your employees will appreciate your communication and your honesty.
