Why a Company Should Have Managed IT Services

Posted by Insightlink on 07/12/21

To manage IT sources, a third-party contractor is outsourced for computer-based processes. Managed IT services anchorage AK come with a cost, but are worthwhile. Read on to understand the main reasons for using managed IT services.

Some of the most common outsourced IT services include:

  •  Security services
  •  Storage services
  •  HRIS services
  •  Managed Mobility Services
  •  Workplace services
  •  Backup and recovery services
  •  Enterprise application services

Importance of IT Managed Services

1.    It Enhances Strategic Planning

Forecasts on upcoming IT needs are provided by managed IT services. The company can therefore upgrade its software and infrastructure to avoid crashes, viruses, and downtime.

2.    Managed Services Provide Expert Advice

Experts in organizations can handle large IT initiatives decisions such as moving to the cloud. This reduces a lot of risks.

3.    Allows the Company to Focus on Core Business Goals

With IT managed services, the company’s worries about IT issues are reduced significantly. You can now pay more attention to other vital issues.

4.    Increases Business Agility

Since the company relies on IT sources from outside, they can easily change or gauge to meet the ever-varying market conditions. This keeps the company updated and reliable.

5.    Increases Resources and Reduces Staffing

The company receives day-to-day IT support from an outside source. This means that the company can operate with minimum to zero IT departments. The company also gets IT management which includes a virtual CIO.

6.    Costs Decrease Significantly

Over-provisioning is avoided since pricing is based on usage. Capital to manage IT services can be enormous. Companies can also get more IT-critical enterprises such as oracle sources and SAP and more IT infrastructure without adding principal expenses.

7.    Secure and Protected Data

For the company to maintain its client, they need to feel that they can trust the company. Hence a secured system means they will be comfortable doing business with the company. With managed IT services, a company can confidently know that clients’ data is not threatened.

Challenges of Using IT Managed Services:

1.    Hindrance from Aging Infrastructure

If a provider source an IT problem from outdated hardware or inadequate, it will provide temporary solutions. An example is using Windows SQL 2008 server; the provider will have minimal answers to escalate problems. Hence the provider will always be working around hurdles and will not make sense for a company.

2.    It Cannot Provide Hands-on Assistance

Some companies operate 24/7, whereas managed service providers may be working traditional hours like from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Companies that use it even at night may be forced to halt production in case of an IT problem.

3.     Limited Rapport with the Contracted Provider

It does not offer a personalized experience. This is unlike having an employee where the company can get face-to-face communication with employees; there is minimal talk time. Hence contracting an IT-managed service provider will not be the same as having an in-house IT engineer.

The bottom line is before a company contract; a managed service provider will have to put a lot of effort into building a relationship with the MSP. It must also update its infrastructure and also choose a reputable MSP to avoid challenges.
